POW badge worn while POW in Tokyo

Spent 67 days in solitary confinement in this cage in a wooden stable at Kempee Tai Tarture prison in downtown Tokyo adjacent Imperial Palace grounds.

On my return visits to Tokyo I always visit the Ueno Zoo.

B 29s came over at low altitude and dropped food medicine and misc. to us. What a great day on 8/28/45.

After moving to Omori from solitary confinement we received a bowl for our rice meals. We also were required to secure �Benjo� ticket to use toilet facility outside our barracks.

As prisoners at Omori we were compelled to cleanup damage in City of Omori after bomb raids and plant gardens. This is one of our plots. We could not eat any of our vegetable crops.
